Franklin County organization calls on young people to discuss racial justice

News

A Franklin County organization concerned about racial justice called on young people for their input Saturday.

Everything from school shootings to environmental issues were on the table as the group called “Racial Justice Rising” held their monthly meeting at Greenfield’s First Congregational Church.

Ronnie Williams, a Turners Falls High School student, held their attention with his assessment of racism at school.

Williams said, “I’m trying to spread awareness of racism. Sit back and understand it. It’s not really like racism, it’s like treating people the right way.”

Organizers told 22News that Racial Justice Rising is supported by grants from a number of towns in Hampshire and Franklin counties.
