We are just three days away from MGM Springfield’s grand opening and 22News got an early look inside the nearly billion dollar casino.
After years of planning and construction, MGM has reached completion.
With a 125,000 square foot gaming floor, a hotel, several restaurants and a bowling alley, there’s plenty of space for MGM Springfield to pay tribute to the city it calls home.
There are books from the city’s library stacking the hotels shelves, and Dr. Seuss is shown inside of the bank of elevators.
When Springfield natives come to the casino for the first time, they can also expect to see some familiar faces many of the employees are from the city themselves.
General manager of MGM Springfield Alex Dixon told 22News 35 percent of the casinos employees are from Springfield themselves.
MGM will open its parking garage and casino to the public at 11 a.m. on Friday.
