(WPRI) — More than 20,000 pounds of ready-to-eat beef patties are being recalled because they may be contaminated with plastic.
According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), AdvancePierre Foods Inc. received two reports of soft, purple plastic being found inside the product.
The recalled beef patties were produced on November 13, 2018:
- 14.06-lb. cases containing three bags with 30 pieces for a total of 90 portions of “CN FULLY COOKED FLAME-BROILED BEEF PATTIES CARAMEL COLOR ADDED” with case code 155-525-0 and package code 8334.
According to FSIS, the patties were shipped to food service locations nationwide, including schools, though they were not part of the food provided by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program.
Food service providers who may have purchased the beef patties are urged not to serve them and to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
Consumers with questions about the recall can contact AdvancePierre’s Consumer Affairs Hotline at (855) 382-3101.
