SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Police Department announced on Thursday that starting in 2023 they’ll be performing random compliance checks on businesses in the city that sell alcohol.

These checks are made to ensure that businesses are properly checking customer I-Ds and not serving alcohol to anyone underage. That includes bars, restaurants, and package stores.

Checks could begin as soon as January 1st and will happen randomly throughout the year.
