A community talk was held in Wilbraham about brain development and youth addiction.
Dr. Ruth Potee spoke with residents about the vulnerability of adolescent’s brains and youth substance abuse. The program was geared towards parents or guardians who raise or work with children.
Dr. Potee told 22News it’s important to discuss youth addiction in a state where marijuana is legalized and in the midst of an opioid crisis.
“You can truly avoid addiction by postponing your usage until your brain is fully developed,” Dr. Potee said.
The program also collected unused prescription medications to be safely disposed of by the Wilbraham and Hampden Police Departments.
