If you’re coming down with a cold, knowing which over the counter remedy to take can be confusing.
There are dozens of over-the-counter products to choose from, but the nasal spray that helps deal with a runny nose isn’t what you’d buy for a bad cough.
Longmeadow Big Y Pharmacist Stephanie Cloutier told 22News, what you buy in hopes to treat your cold could be complicated by your medical history.
“If you have congestion usually Sudafed is the thing to take behind the pharmacy counter, but patients with high blood pressure it’s not recommend to take that,” she said.
Cloutier said the best way to take the mystery out of buying the most effective cold remedy is to first check with your pharmacist.
