Massachusetts is one of several states reporting widespread flu activity.
The Massachusetts Public Health Department’s weekly flu report confirmed the continued rise in the number of flu cases during the past seven days.
Holyoke Medical Center Vice President Phillip Candito told 22News, they have had a significant increase in the number of people coming into the emergency room with flu symptoms.
“Here at Holyoke Medical Center in the last few days, we have seen an uptick in the number of flu cases presented to our emergency department,” said Candito. “So I would encourage everyone who hasn’t had a flu shot to consider it.”
The Public Health Department is reminding Massachusetts residents that it’s not too late to get your flu shot and remember, the vaccine takes two weeks to build up maximum protection.
