Herrell’s Ice Cream making accessibility improvements

News

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Herrell’s Ice Cream in Northampton is reaching the final stage of making its Thorne’s Marketplace facility completely accessible to disabled customers.

A construction crew was hard at work Wednesday on the last phase of its handicapped-accessible improvements. Owner Judy Herrell told 22News about how close they are to completion of these improvements.

“We have completed a ramp that brings you in from Thorne’s market to Herrell’s, and hopefully within the next couple of weeks, that ramp will be open. Bathrooms will be finished, and people will be able to wheel themselves in without a problem,” Herrell said.

Herrell’s has been a fixture in downtown Northampton for many years after its founding in the Boston-area city of Somerville more than 40 years ago.
