HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert told 22News the department dedicated increased manpower to the Tokeneke Road, Farnum Drive, and Jarvis Heights areas on Monday after several shooting incidents this past weekend.
The State Police Air Wing and the FBI’s drug and gang task force were all involved in a search around Whiting Farms Road Monday night. Lt Albert said dozens of rounds were fired in several separate shootings this past weekend
A bullets crashed through a man’s bedroom wall while he was watching television. He told 22News, “A bullet just came outta my wall. It was horrible. At first I was in shock because I couldn’t comprehend what was going on. And then I put it all together and went to check on my mother and brother. That’s when I saw the hole in his wall. And I froze.”
Police recovered two handguns Monday night, and arrested one suspect. “We’ve arrested one guy, and they’re searching for another. We’ve recovered two handguns,” Holyoke Police Lt. Isaias Cruz told 22News. “We think we have one of the guys responsible for those shootings.”
Holyoke Police said 22News they’re going to keep up the increased patrols all summer.
