You’re probably familiar with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but do you know about Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday, often seen accompanied by a hashtag on social media is a global day of activism and philanthropy which has been observed every Tuesday after Thanksgiving since 2012.

Tuesday, November 27th you’ll have another chance to give to an organization you care about.

There are dozens of non-profit organizations taking part in Giving Tuesday in the Pioneer Valley, and 22News spoke with one right in Springfield asking for your help.

Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts helps thousands of students each year, preparing them for life after graduating. The president of this non-profit told 22News every cent they raise on Giving Tuesday will go a long way.

“We do everything from having to provide pencils to the students in school to tape to providing bussing,” said Jennifer Connolly, president of Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts. “Our programs cant exist without the support of the community and businesses so everything that they give will definitely help.”

Junior Achievement hopes to raise $5,000 in donations this Giving Tuesday.

Valley Gives is the premier fundraising event for the Pioneer Valley. Over the last six years, “Valley Gives” has raised more than 10-million dollars for Pioneer Valley non-profit organizations on Giving Tuesday.
