CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Potentially life-saving chemotherapy drugs are in short supply nationwide, and it’s having an impact on medical care in our region.

It’s a problem, so acute it was recognized by the Biden administration just last month. The White House noted there’s a shortage of 15 cancer drugs due to manufacturing and supply chain issues.

The 22News I-Team asked local hospitals and medical professionals why there’s a shortage of some essential chemo drugs and how it’s affecting patients. We also contacted pharmaceutical companies to get their take on the issue.

Watch 22News I-Team reporter Alanna Flood’s story on the chemo drug medication shortage, Thursday on 22News at 6 p.m.
