CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Hundreds of people die every year in Massachusetts without someone to claim their remains or make arrangements for their internment. So, who is responsible?

Massachusetts law limits the amount of money the state will pay to cover funeral expenses for indigent persons. The 22News I-Team has discovered that the unclaimed remains of some people can be left in storage for months.

The 22News I-Team uncovers what happens to the unclaimed bodies of persons who die without any family or money. See the report on UNCLAIMED BODIES, Thursday, February 22 on 22News at 6pm.
