Increase of travelers at Bradley Airport has helped western Massachusetts tourism

Bradley International Airport has seen a 23 percent increase in travelers since 2013. Bradley’s upward trend in travelers has been great for local communities. With more people coming into the area, the local economy has flourished.

Kevin Dillion Connecticut  Airport Authority Executive Director said, ” Those seats increase passengers that generate revenues and those same passengers are spending dollars here in the region whether it’s in a restaurant or staying in an area hotel so it’s great for the area economy.”

This is Bradley International Airport’s sixth year in a row of passenger growth. In 2018 alone, they saw nearly seven million people.

Western Massachusetts has also seen an upward trend of visitors.

According to The Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, western Massachusetts has seen growth in the hotel business.

New hotels have opened and occupancy has increased. The Greater Springfield Convention and Business Bureau president said Bradley’s success is great for western Massachusetts tourism.

Mary Kay Wydra President The Greater Springfield Convention and Business Bureau said, “With all the work Bradley is doing to increase the size of the airport and increase the number of travelers that’s great news for Western Mass because it brings in new feeder markets for us to pursue.”

Wydra also said western Massachusetts has hosted several national conferences and The Greater Springfield Convention and Business Bureau has more planned.
