InFocus: Winter energy savings and fuel assistance programs

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Winter officially starts next week, but this week we’ve been feeling the sting of freezing temperatures.

That’s why on 22News InFocus this week we’ll be discussing ways to help you save on winter heating bills with energy saving programs and low-cost, do-it-yourself ideas. We’ll also find out what kind of fuel assistance is available through government programs and local social service organizations.

Home and business energy assessments are a free service through the Mass Save program. Audit recipients can qualify for free energy efficient light bulbs, a free programmable thermostat, water saving devices, air sealing and insulation. They also offer weatherization rebates of up to 75% of $2000, and zero percent financing.  Investing in energy saving upgrades not only help you, they support the local economy by employing local contractors to do the work.
