InFocus: Responsible gaming and recognizing gambling disorders

InFocus

The MGM Springfield Casino opened last week.  In the the years prior to the opening, voters in Massachusetts and many communities across the state considered and debated legalizing casino style gaming in Massachusetts.

The state has allowed lottery gaming since 1971, when the state legislature established the Massachusetts State Lottery.

One of the concerns for those opposed to the casino is the issue of gambling addiction. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is requiring all casino licensees to participate in the GAME SENSE program which encourages casino guests to plan ahead to game responsibly.

This Sunday at noon on 22News InFocus we’ll be discussing programs that promote responsible gaming and what’s being done to prevent, identify, and support anyone who may feel they need help with a gambling disorder.
