You may have heard the term STEM used by educators. It’s an acronym for SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING and MATH.
According to a CYBERSTATES industry report, in 2016 Massachusetts had over 500,000 people employed in tech industry jobs, number one in the nation.
Many tech companies across the state have job openings, but not enough qualified applicants to fill positions. High schools and colleges are hoping to help fill those jobs with students enrolled in STEM educational programs.
This week on 22News InFocus we’ll be discussing some of the many STEM educational programs available in western Massachusetts. We’ll be talking with people involved with creating those programs and the STEM educators who work with students every day.
