The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is reporting an increase in FLU nationwide, including here in Massachusetts. This Sunday on 22News InFocus we’ll be talking with doctors about the flu and other contagious diseases that are common during the winter months.
The FLU is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses and can be deadly for some people, including those who have compromised immune systems, the elderly, and young children. Two children have died in the past week in Massachusetts due to complications from the flu.
Many health professionals say prevention is the first line of defense, starting with a flu shot. The CDC says this year’s vaccine is working well.
