SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An Italian fundraiser was held Tuesday night at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield.

A traditional Italian meal was served, featuring Chicken parmigiana, sausage and peppers and meatballs just as good as your grandmother’s. The fundraiser was hosted by the Springfield Chapter of Unico, which promotes the image and culture of Italian Americans through service to the community.

The fundraiser allowed residents to purchase $100 tickets, for a chance to win a shot at a $2,000 prize. In total, the organization was able to raise $11,500.

The Chapter’s President, Anthony Franco, told 22News the money will be donated to Shriners Hospital, The Gray House, The Ronald McDonal House, and various other scholarships for local students.
