If you’re looking to get Christmas lights to put on your tree or outside your house 22News is working for you with what is available.
You can get the older incandescent lights or you can go with the newer LED lights.
You may still be using incandescent Christmas lights inside and outside of your home but if you’re looking to replace them with LED lights there are some benefits. LED lights are brighter and can save you money.
“During the long run they last longer, you’re not buying as many as the incandescent so that’s more money in your pocket there and even with your electric bill it’s cheaper,” said Dewayne Kelly of Rocky’s Ace Hardware.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, LED bulbs use 75 percent less energy and last 25 times as long. They also don’t heat up like incandescent bulbs and pose much less of a fire hazard.
LED bulbs are a lot less expensive now then they were when they first came out.
