Local Christmas tree farms prepare for busy season

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, many local Christmas tree farms are preparing for their busy season.

Paul Bunyan’s Farm in Chicopee has seen one of the busiest weekends in their 33 years in business. Many were hunting for that perfect tree Sunday excited to bring it home and decorate it for the holidays.

“It’s a lot of hard work but it’s worth it because everyone here is smiling and laughing,” said Susan Lopes. “It’s a joyful experience for them and it’s definitely a great crop to grow being a farmer.”

And If you haven’t gotten your Christmas tree yet, don’t worry.

A new report by the National Christmas Tree Association shows if you wait until the week before Christmas, the average price of Christmas trees drops significantly.
