DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts farms are getting some financial relief!

Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture, or CISA, has reopened their emergency farm fund to help farms who’ve suffered economically by the drought.

The organization out of South Deerfield is offering zero interest loans up to 10,000 to farms in Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire County.  CISA’s executive Director Phillip Korman told 22News that the funding is worth up to $110,000 in total.

Last week, CISA finalized $43,000 in loans to five orchards who lost stone fruit crops, such as peaches, due to the February cold snap. Local farms have also had access to funds from the state and through the USSDA’s Farm Service Agency.
