SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The AIC Student Nurse Association paid tribute to the thirteen lives lost in a suicide bombing at the Kabul Airport in Afghanistan.

Flags and roses were placed to commemorate the soldiers. The Student Nurse Association’s co-presidents also shared biographies of the fallen to those who turned out to pay their respects Wednesday evening.

“It’s just something special to do, for not only those that passed away but the families as well because they are also suffering a lot,” said Alyssa Bellefeuille, a senior nursing student.

“… To honor those who lost their lives, since there was a big majority out of the 13,” fellow nursing student Sarah Newsome told 22News.

The attacks are close to their hearts. One of the president’s boyfriends is a specialist deployed in Afghanistan with the Army. He was five miles away at the time of the bombing and is currently awaiting deployment to Iraq.
