WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Easter weekend has come to an end, and many traveled on the roads this holiday weekend.
Easter may not seem like peak travel time, but many families travel to be with loved ones on Easter which means increased traffic -- both on the road and at the airport.
But for some, gas prices may have played a role in some travel plans. According to AAA, the average gas price in Massachusetts has gone up over 20 cents in just one month.
22News spoke with one driver traveling this holiday weekend who said they planned ahead to avoid sitting in traffic.
"This time of year you never know what it's going to be like," said Sarah Calabrese. "Weather wise, traffic wise, you just have to make sure that you plan far ahead in advance and you're prepared for anything."
Most of the holiday travel has wrapped up earlier Sunday evening.
