Firefighters extinguish structure fire in Orange

ORANGE, Mass. (WWLP) – Crews in Orange worked on a structure in the center of town Monday afternoon.

According to the Orange Fire Department, crews worked on a structure fire in the center of town/South Main Street & Depot area, vicinity of Memorial Park at approximately 11:53 a.m. An off duty Orange Police Officer working a detail came across the building with alarms activated and saw residents of the apartments evacuating and updated Orange Fire Department through radio that smoke was visible from the building. Crews came to the building and and located the fire using a thermal imaging camera and extinguished the fire.

Additional crews and mutual aid arrived and assisted in searching all businesses and apartments to ensure there were no victims or further fire extension. There were no injuries and the fire is currently under investigation by the Orange Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police Fire Marshal’s Office.
