Franklin County’s lone-ski resort is open for the winter season.
Berkshire East in Charlemont said Monday night’s snowstorm has helped make for the best conditions to start their winter season.
Berkshire East officially opened for the season last Friday, which marked their earliest opening ever. The ski resort wasn’t open Tuesday, but they let a friend take a few runs in the fresh powder.
Berkshire East told 22News the 10 inches of snow from Monday night’s storm combined with all their man-made snow, has made for ideal skiing conditions.
“This is really good early season heavy snow as a good base layer, so our groomers will go up and groom this into the existing snow that we have,” said Director of Marketing, Gabriel Porter-Henry. “Should set up for some nice existing weekend conditions hopefully.”
Porter Henry told 22News they’ve never had this much snow on their mountain at the start of their winter season, and it’s allowed them to open all nine of their trails.
Berkshire East is only open to the public on weekends right now, but they plan to begin their normal winter schedule the week of Christmas.
