Massachusetts is starting the New Year with lower gas prices.
22News visited several gas stations in Franklin County on Tuesday, where people said the price change isn’t much of a difference.
According to AAA, as of January 1st, national average for gas is $2.25 per gallon. In Massachusets, the average is about a quarter more at $2.53 per gallon.
And in Franklin County the average is $2.41 per gallon, about 20 cents cheaper than the average gas price a month ago for regular gas. But most drivers in Franklin County said it’s a minimal change.
The highest recorded average price for regular unleaded gas was back in July 2008 at $4.09 per gallon.
