Two families are without a place to stay Saturday night after a fire in Greenfield this afternoon.

Greenfield Fire Captain Jesse Phelps told 22News, firefighters were called to a two-family home on High Street just before 2 P.M. When firefighters got there, they saw heavy flames and smoke coming from the roof of the home.

All of the residents were able to make it out safely, but two of the families’ pets had to be taken to animal hospitals.

According to Captain Phelps, fire investigators with the State Police have been called in to figure out what started the fire.
