Greenfield’s former Planning Board chairwoman is running for Greenfield mayor.
Roxann Wedegartner announced her candidacy Thursday afternoon at the John Zon Community Center saying, “Somebody’s got to do it!”
Wedegartner served as chairwoman to both the Greenfield School Committee and the Planning Board for a total of 22 years.
For the 16 years she spent as the Planning Board chair, Wedegartner told 22News she has participated in every major development decision in terms of both economic and residential development.
She said that gives her an advantage for knowing what the people in Greenfield want.
“So as the third mayor I want to see us keep moving forward in a positive and more collaborative way,” Wedegartner said. “I think my experience on the Planning Board gives me a great deal of background in how to get things done around here.”
The Mayor’s Office was not available for comment on whether current Greenfield Mayor William Martin is running for reelection in the fall.
State elections will take place in November.
