Greenfield’s Poet’s Seat Tower reopens after month-long restoration

Franklin County

Greenfield’s iconic sight seeing attraction, the Poet’s Seat Tower, has reopened after a month long restoration.

The refurbished tower built in 1912 needed work on its crumbling capstones.

The tower provides a panoramic view of Franklin County than enthralls visitors and locals alike.

“It’s a great view from the Connecticut River valley from Mount Tom, very beautiful,” said Steven Powers of Vermont.

“I like Greenfield because it’s a quiet little town and I can still walk across the street, people will stop when you’re driving,” Frank Stuit Je added.

Poet’s Seat is said to have gotten its name from the poets who gathered here more than a century ago as a source of literary inspiration.
