Hundreds gathered in Franklin County Saturday in celebration of Pride Month.
The 2nd annual Franklin County “Pride March and Rally” was held in Greenfield.
Saturday’s schedule was jam packed with events starting with a “Gay 5k” in the morning and ending with a concert at night.
The rain or shine festival features multiple vendors, a farmer’s market and speeches from members of the LGBTQ+ community.
One Pride coordinator told 22News why events like this are so important.
“It’s really important for us to come together to celebrate, to be seen and visible to each other,” said Jamie Pottern. “We’re also here to talk about issues that are impacting the community and impacting other marginalized folks in the region.”
The Rainbow Flag was raised in Greenfield Friday for the first time in history.
Pottern said she’s overwhelmed by the amount of community support.
