Greenfield’s four-floor parking garage is now open to the public.
The city is hoping the new parking garage will encourage more people to shop and eat in their downtown.
Greenfield opened their $10 million four-floor parking garage to the public Friday morning, nearly 15 months after construction on the project first began.
The new parking garage has 270 parking spaces and EV charging stations for electric cars.
“It’s really fantastic,” Jacob Wartenberg said. “A lot of people are coming to Greenfield on weekend nights Fridays and Saturdays to eat out, and there’s not enough parking, so I’m really hoping it’s going to support local businesses and Greenfield will become more of a destination.”
It’s free to use the parking garage now, but you will have to begin paying its rates January 1. It’ll cost a dollar an hour to park in the garage between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 25 cents an hour at all other times.
You can also purchase $65 parking garage permits through a city-run lottery.
Parking will be free among the first three floors during snow emergencies.
