No date set for Patriot Care to begin recreational pot sales in Greenfield

Franklin County

The Cannabis Control Commission this week approved recreational marijuana sales for Patriot Care’s Medical Marijuana Dispensary in Greenfield.

Franklin County will soon be home to a recreational pot shop, but not everyone approves of it.

The Patriot Care medical marijuana dispensary is located on Legion Avenue in downtown Greenfield. And the dispensary could begin recreational marijuana sales as early as this Sunday.

One Greenfield woman who chose not to go on camera told 22News that she disapproves because younger generations might see it as encouraging drug use.

But a woman who works across the street from Patriot Care said the change will create more foot traffic, which is good for business.

“It’ll probably make downtown a little busy,” Elijah Raczynski said, “but I don’t see any problem with it, really.”

Patriot Care has not yet announced an official date for the start of adult-use sales, but they have the approval to open as soon as this Sunday.

Greenfield Police told 22News, they’ve been in talks with Patriot Care about increasing security once they open for recreational sales.
