DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An owl is recovering after being hit by a car in Deerfield Monday afternoon.

According to Deerfield police, the owl was in flight when it struck a car’s windshield.

The bird was picked up from the road by two Deerfield police officers and brought to Tom Ricardi for observation. Ricardi is a raptor rehabilitator who works with the Massachusetts Bird of Prey Rehabilitation Facility and Captive Bald Eagle Breeding Program in Conway.

“Hopefully the owl makes a full recovery,” police wrote on Facebook.
