Retail recreational pot shop coming to Orange in Spring 2019

Franklin County

Silver Therapeutics Inc. is wrapping up construction at their Williamstown location this weekend, which allows them to start construction for a retail pot shop in Orange.

Silver Therapeutics is almost at the finish line to open a retail recreational marijuana shop and cultivation facility in Orange.

The company has the town’s approval for both sites, which includes a host community agreement and a letter of non-opposition.

The company also has a medical marijuana license to begin construction right away at the downtown location for a retail pot shop.

“We are in the queue with the Cannabis Control Commission for our Orange cultivation and Williamstown retail adult-use licenses,” said Brendan McKee, CFO of Silver Therapeutics Inc. “So as soon as those go through, we’ll immediately submit our Orange retail for adult-use license.”

McKee told 22News, the company first sought town approval for a cultivation facility in the Orange Business Park at 158 Governor Dukakis Drive.

A UMass Amherst grad, McKee said they chose Orange for its location, especially with the real estate they’ve secured.

McKee told 22News, their neighbors have been “incredibly supportive.”

“I kind of look forward to it. It’s going to be bringing new life into the downtown, which this downtown really could use,” said Paul Anderson, owner of Trail Head Outfitters & General Store in Orange.

McKee told 22News, they’re looking to start construction at the downtown location within the next two weeks.
