FITCHBURG, Mass. (WWLP) – Two western Massachusetts residents were arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop in Fitchburg Sunday night.
According to Massachusetts State Police, 28-year-old Robert Ortiz, of Erving, and 28-year-old Kishania Vega-Martinez, of Turners Falls, were taken into custody after troopers found 48 grams of heroin, 8 grams of cocaine, two pills, and a bag with ‘green vegetable matter.’ during the stop.
Both suspects have been charged with trafficking in heroin/morphine/opium, and possession to violate a drug law. Ortiz is also facing firearm and motor vehicle charges after state police say they seized a pistol from his possession.
“Although Ortiz is licensed to carry a firearm, it is unlawful to carry a firearm while committing a felony, which includes trafficking narcotics,” state police report.
Ortiz was held on $20,000 bail, while Vega-Martinez was ordered held on $50,000 bail. Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned in Fitchburg District Court on Tuesday morning.
