Whately Planning Board considers changing zoning laws for adult entertainment businesses

Franklin County

The Whately Planning Board is looking to change where adult entertainment businesses can operate in the town.

On Tuesday night, the Planning Board decided to change the town’s bylaws from not allowing adult entertainment anywhere—aside from the Castaway Lounge along Route 5—to allowing any new business strictly in industrial zoning areas and by special permit only.

22News reached out to the Chairman of the Whately Planning Board, but he did not want to talk on camera.

There will be a public hearing for the proposed changes, which will also have to pass at a Town Meeting.

The Planning Board’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 28.
