SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A family dog died and 11 people are without a home following a fire on Algonquin Place in Springfield.
Springfield Fire Department Captain Brian Tetreault told 22News the second floor porch at the multifamily 38-40 Algonquin Place home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters got there. When our 22News crew was on the way to the fire, we could see smoke from I-391.
Tetreault said the fire was put out quickly and caused an estimated $75,000 in damage.
The American Red Cross is helping the victims of the fire find somewhere else to stay.
