Five people and three dogs are without a home after a massive house fire on Ridgewood Place Tuesday night.
Springfield Fire Department spokesman Dennis Leger told 22News crews were called to 54 Ridgewood Pl., where they found a fire on the second floor of the home around 9:13 p.m.
Leger said the fire extended into the attic area, causing structural damage to the second-floor attic and roof area. The first floor of the home also sustained water and smoke damage.
A 22News crew at the location saw flames and smoke coming out of the roof of a brick building. There are also multiple fire and police vehicles in the area.
The Red Cross is assisting the five residents and three dogs who escaped the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad is trying to determine what caused the fire.
