5 Springfield residents homeless after basement fire on Lively Lane

Hampden County

Five people are homeless after a basement fire on Lively Lane early Thursday afternoon.

Springfield fire officials told 22News the basement fire at 26 Lively Lane was called in right after 12 p.m.

Fire spokesman Dennis Leger said crews quickly put out the fire with no injuries reported.

The five residents of 26 Lively Lane are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad are trying to figure out what caused the basement fire.
