5 Springfield residents homeless after Lowell St. apartment fire

Hampden County

Five people are homeless after an apartment fire on Lowell Street early Thursday evening.

Springfield fire officials told 22News crews were called to 49 Lowell St. around 4:22 p.m., where they found a third-floor fire and quickly put it out.

Spokesman Dennis Leger said no injuries were reported and that the five left without a home, are being assisted by the Red Cross.

He added that officials are looking into the cause of the fire.
