AARP helps bring benches back at PVTA bus stops

Hampden County

The benches are back for PTVA bus riders in downtown Springfield.

It’s been years since Main Street passengers waiting for their bus at the foot of Court Square Park enjoyed the convenience of a bench.

A grant from AARP paid for two benches as well as those at ten other PVTA passenger sites.

One Springfield resident told 22News she’s happy about the new benches.

“It feels, you can sit down and relax waiting for your bus,” said Annette Cruz, a PVTA passenger. “Oh yes, you can relax and wait for your bus just relax.”

The PVTA told 22News, the old benches were removed years ago partly because of vandalism.
