Veteran’s Day is about honoring our country’s military men and women but for some, it’s an opportunity to scheme people out of their money.
According to AARP Massachusetts Fraud Watch, schemers often see the month of November as a likely month to call pretending to represent charities benefiting our nation’s heroes.
Schemers often use sound-alike names to solicit money.
“It’s heart wrenching to see those men put their life on the line for their country and families and to come back and people are just trying to take their money and take away everything,” said Michael Duncan of Springfield.
If you suspect you’ve been the victim of charity fraud, call the police.
