After 83 years, Hofbrauhaus restaurant closes its doors Easter Sunday

Owner and chef Joe Stevens said goodbye to his many loyal customers during that final meal, Easter Sunday.

Joe Stevens owned the restaurant for the past 30 years.

Joe told 22News, what he was feeling on this final day, “I haven’t had a chance yet, it’s probably going to sink in during the week. What’s going to happen, it’s been so busy the past few weeks, so our guests will be taken care of.” 

22News also spoke with regular customer, Fredy Steng of Wilbraham about the meanignful day, “Well it’s just a bitterswet day, because I’ve been coming here for fifty years. I enjoyed the meal, I’ve been in restaurants all over the country and this is a great place to come home to.”

Joe Stevens wants to reminds people that the Hofbrauhaus will still have a presence at the Big E this fall, as it has for so many years.

As for his future plans, Joe intends to enjoy the time off for a change.
