Agawam dentist collecting Halloween candy for military men, women

Hampden County

An Agawam dentist is collecting candy for a good cause.

Doctor Michael Calabrese has been collecting kids extra Halloween candy at Agawam Dental Associates for a decade.

Once they’re done collecting candy, they’ll pack it up and ship it to military service members overseas.  The collection has become a tradition in town.

Office workers arrived Thursday morning to find bags of candy by the door. Dental associate Cecilia Calabrese told 22News, collecting Halloween candy has become a long-standing tradition.

“When we came in this morning, there were bags of candy that people had just left,” said Calabrese. “The people in the neighborhood know about this collection like I said, we’ve been doing it for a long time.”

Agawam Dental Associates plans to continue collecting candy for the next few days. They said their biggest candy haul yet was around 300 pounds.
