Agawam Fire Department, Red Cross to install free smoke alarms at homes

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – The American Red Cross is partnering with the Agawam Fire Department to install free smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors in homes on August 22 and 23.

Agawam residents who wish to participate in the program must meet the following requirements:

  • Home was built before 1975
  • Current alarms are more than 10 years old

To register, call the Agawam Fire Department at 413-726-2885 by August 16. 

The goal of the campaign is to reduce the number of deaths and injuries from home fires by as much as 25 percent over the next four years.
