Agawam first responders host summer safety workshop

Hampden County

School is out and Agawam first responders are working to keep children safe.

Agawam firefighters, safety officers and EMT’s gathered at Bethany Assembly of God this evening to share summer safety tips with the community.

Dozens of local families took advantage of the opportunity to ask questions and interact with their town’s first responders.

They put on educational demonstrations and gave children tours of their vehicles.

Tim Reed, executive Pastor at the church told 22News it’s important for the children,  “With summer coming on kids are riding their bikes, they’re going swimming and it’s important for them to have the proper safety rules so they know helmets are important, water safety is very important so the fire department is here to help.”

Dinner was provided for a small fee while the kids were treated to free hot dogs.
