Agway in Palmer closing it’s doors on Thursday

Hampden County

The Agway in Palmer will close its doors on Thursday. Many Palmer residents were sad to hear that their local home and garden store is closing.

Agway posted on their Facebook page Tuesday morning announcing that Thursday will be their last day and all items at the store are 75 percent off.

James McHugh, a Palmer resident was surprised to find out the store is being forced to close, “It’s kind of sad obviously, it’s convenient for people who live around here and it’s too bad. It’s another business going down. Let’s hope something can reopen here in the near future.”

The manager of the Palmer store declined to go on camera but she said they are working with local community members to try and reopen the store as its own independent business.

The home and garden company sells everything from seeds and fertilizer to pet food.

22News contacted Agway’s owner Brian Kelly on the Palmer closure, but we haven’t heard back from them.
