A call for volunteers at the Alzheimer’s Association in Springfield Tuesday night.
More than five million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s Disease. The Pioneer Valley’s chapter of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s held a kickoff event to inspire volunteers to participate in this year’s walk.
One resident told 22News that the association has helped him as a caregiver.
“It’s really a tough disease for, not only the people going through it but also the caregivers – the people involved and helping out,” said David Fedor of Agawam. “Those people can really benefit by knowing some of the things that the Alzheimer’s Association can share with them.”
Holyoke will host the next walk, set for September 15.
