Artists to transform downtown Springfield into art gallery

Hampden County

Downtown Springfield is getting a new vibrant look this summer!

Professional muralists will transform downtown building walls into permanent works of art during the first week of June as part of the “Fresh Paint Springfield” festival.

Local artists will also paint smaller art pieces that will be displayed in public locations and community centers downtown.

The goal of Fresh Paint Springfield is to create a dynamic outdoor art gallery in the heart of Springfield while celebrating community and creativity.

The festival will feature three community paint parties beginning in May and a block party on June 8th.

“All of the artists are going to be painting and finishing up their murals that week so it’ll be an opportunity for the public to see everything taking place all at once. We’re still in the process of designing what our mural is going to be and we don’t exactly know which wall yet but that’s going to be determined shortly.” Priya Green

Fresh Paint Springfield and the Springfield Cultural Partnership are still looking for local artists to help brighten up the city. For more information visit
