An international advisor for cybersecurity visited Bay Path University on Thursday.
That leader’s name is Leyla Aliyeva. She lives in Azerbaijan and is interning with the Massachusetts State House’s Committee of Technology and Intergovernmental Affairs.
Aliyeva made the trip to Bay Path to tour the university and to meet with leaders of the university’s cybersecurity program.
Cybersecurity is the protection of computer systems from theft and damage to their hardware.
As head adviser of cybersecurity service in her home country, Aliyeva processes and monitors online threats and attacks.
“Within the next few years, cyber security will become a very important part of our life,” Aliyeva said. “Right now, we have our phones and computers but pretty soon, everything will be connected to the internet.”
If a business is hacked everything could be vulnerable, from that company’s money to their employees’ information.
To protect yourself or your business, experts recommend creating a cybersecurity policy, creating strong passwords, and updating your computers.
